Ok, so it's a "royal we"! Actually, to date this business has consisted entirely of me (with sporadic assistance from one or more of my kids). :)

My name is "Fleet" (really!) and I started this business as a hobby when we (the family) lived in southern Maryland back in the early 90s - around the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. I discovered I had a knack for web pages and started making some for friends. Then for some friends that insisted on paying me. And then - well, you know the old saw about having a tiger by the tail! :)

The logo is an artist's rendition of the Governor Thomas Johnson bridge that spans the Patuxent River between Calvert County and St. Mary's County near Solomon's Island in Maryland. The artist is my youngest son, Patrick - a very accomplished free-lance artist - and not just on the computer. And, of course, the "company name" derives from the river.

As a consequence of starting in southern Maryland, a large number of my clients are located in that area - many are charter boat captains (and display some awesome fish on their web sites - just visit some of them!) However, I also have web sites for businesses located in Vermont, Colorado, and South Carolina. At one time I ran a web site for a Greyhound breeder in Ireland! Location on the internet is a non-issue.

In 2003, we moved to the south central PA area and now live near New Kingstown, just east of Carlisle on Route 11.

   The Company Philosopy -
I don't charge much because:

  1. I am retired and don't really need the money.
  2. I have almost zero overhead - server, ISP, business phone, programming/computer books, and occasional new computer equipment.
  3. This is still pretty much a hobby. I enjoy it and I like most of the people I meet. (There's always that 10% of course!)
  4. I *do* need to cover expenses; but I'm just not very greedy. :)
Web pages and clients:
  1. I like to work with businesses/people who will work with me to keep their web site up-to-date.
  2. I won't guarantee your site will make the first page of google. I have serious reservations about the believability of anyone who makes that claim. Position in the search engines depends on a large number of variables - key words, content, applicability, number of visitors, number of external link-backs, etc.
  3. I will guarantee to do the best job I know how.
  4. Most major search engines have been indexing my sites daily since the mid 90s.
  5. I code all pages by hand (no WYSIWYG editors); and I code to xhtml specifications.
  6. I'm not fond of "cute" animated images. (Personal preference)
