- Domain Name Registration
- If you have a domain name registered, we will probably need to move the
registration to the registrar I use. It makes things easier.
- If you do not have a domain name registered, I will assist you in selecting
one, and will get it registered for you. I usually suggest a two-year
registration ($25.00). For what it's worth, I don't get any of this money -
it goes to the internet folks.
- Setup and coding
- For most sites, $75.00. If you need something especially difficult, then
we'll talk about it. This covers coding of the site according to an agreed
upon design and the server setup. This is a one-time charge - unless you
decide to completely redo the site. "Normal" updates, changes and
corrections are free - and unlimited. This includes, for example, weekly (or
more often) updates to a menu or price chart, address/phone number changes,
daily/weekly/monthly "specials". I'm delighted when I get someone
who really wants to keep his/her site changing and up-to-date!
- Hosting
- Monthly charge of $20.00. Yeah, I know, there is cheaper hosting
available; but the server farm I use seldom disappears, has an excellent
support team if something does go wrong, and there are *zero* "other
requirements".
- Site Maintenance
- Monthly charge of $25.00. As noted above, normal changes are free and
unlimited. If you make no changes, you still get charged a Maintenance Fee.
It's an incentive thing! For what it's worth, the last time I bothered to
check, basic no-experience html coders were getting $45.00/hour.
Experienced html coders were getting $65.00/hour and up. With an active
site, sometimes I will spend a good deal of time on the site and other times
almost no time at all. It evens out.
- Recap
- A "standard" site will run you $45/month. Somewhat less than your
cable service, I suspect.
